The Avalanches is an Australian electronic music group formed in Melbourne in 1997. They gained critical acclaim with their debut album, Since I Left You, released in 2000. Combining elements of hip-hop, soul, funk, disco, and other genres, the album stood out for its complex soundscapes built from thousands of samples—excerpts from pre-existing recordings estimated at around 3,500.
After a 16-year hiatus, the group released its second album, Wildflower, in 2016. In 2020, they released We Will Always Love You, which featured more guest vocalists and explored themes such as love, loss, and memory.
In 2026, The Avalanches released their fourth studio album, No Bad Memories, featuring guest appearances by artists such as Jamie xx and Karen O.
