The band Pullovers originated in 1999 in São Paulo, when Luiz Venâncio began to materialize his first compositions with lyrics in English, inspired by the work of indie rock artists such as Pavement and Belle And Sebastian.

With Venâncio (vocals and guitar), Ana Carolina (bass), Marianne Crestani (guitar), and Daniel Hirata (drums), the band released their first album, Pullovers Can’t Play Covers, in 2000. Produced by Adriano Cintra of Cansei de Ser Sexy, it served as the basis for shows in various cities.

This was followed by the albums Riding Lessons (2002) and Carniça (2005). The latter was a collaboration with singer Geanine Marques.

Pullovers returned in 2009 with a new lineup and a sound incorporating influences from Brazilian music, abandoning the English language and presenting songs in Portuguese. Venâncio reformed the band with Rodrigo Lorenzetti (keyboards), Bruno Serroni (bass), Ângelo Lorenzetti (viola), Gustavo Beber (drums), and Habacuque Lima (guitar), a member of Ludov.

This change led to the album Tudo Que Eu Sempre Sonhei, which brought more visibility to the group. The track "O amor verdadeiro não tem vista para o mar" was included in the soundtrack of the telenovela Além do Horizonte on Rede Globo TV.

Fifteen years after Tudo Que Eu Sempre Sonhei, the band released Vida vale a pena? in 2024.
