American Kimberley Ann Deal was born on June 10, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio. But it was under the name Kim Deal that she became an icon of alternative rock, both as bassist and co-vocalist of the influential band Pixies, and as leader of the Breeders, which was born at the same time as the first. Deal also became known for her charisma, earning her a tribute song by The Dandy Warhols called "Cool as Kim Deal" from the album ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down (1997).
In the 1990s, she formed The Amps, a band that released a single album, Pacer.
Co-founder of the Pixies, she remained in the band from its formation in 1986 until 1993, when it disbanded. The original quartet reformed in 2004, but she left the group in 2013 to dedicate herself to her own projects.
After five studio albums with The Breeders, Kim Deal released her first solo album, Nobody Loves You More, in 2024, which was well received by music critics.
Nobody Loves You More features several collaborators, including her sister Kelley Deal (The Breeders), Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan (both from Savages), Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub), among others.
