Formed in São Paulo in 2002, Ludov is a Brazilian alternative pop-rock band founded by Vanessa Krongold (vocals), Mauro Motoki (guitar, keyboards, and bass), Habacuque Lima (guitar and bass), and Paulo “Chapolin” Rocha (drums). Vanessa, Mauro, and Habacuque had previously played together in Maybees, a band with an English-language repertoire; with Ludov, they began writing and singing in Portuguese.
Their debut came in 2003 with the EP Dois a Rodar, driven by the success of the track “Princesa.” The music video for the song received heavy rotation on MTV Brasil and won the Best Independent Music Video category at the 2004 Video Music Brasil (VMB) awards. In the following years, the group released the albums O Exercício das Pequenas Coisas (2005), Disco Paralelo (2007), and Caligrafia (2009), establishing themselves as one of the leading acts on the national independent scene.
Between 2011 and 2013, Ludov released a trilogy of digital EPs — Minha Economia (2011), O Paraíso (2012), and Eras Glaciais (2013) — leading up to the release of Miragem (2014), their fourth studio album.
After a hiatus of several years without any new releases, the band returned in January 2023 with the single “Não Tem Fim.”
