Lucy Dacus is an American indie rock singer with folk influences. Lucy Elizabeth Dacus was born on May 2, 1995 in Richmond, the capital of the state of Virginia. Her connection with music began in her family, living with her adoptive mother, a professional pianist and music teacher. She began studying film after graduating, but dropped out to dedicate herself to writing songs and later forming a band.

Led by the single "I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore", her first album, No Burden, was released in 2016 by the EggHunt Records label. That same year, this work was re-released by Matador Records, which also released her second album, Historian, in 2018.

Also in 2018, Lucy Dacus formed the group boygenius with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker. The following year, she released the EP 2019, featuring three original songs and four covers, including “Dancing In The Dark” (Bruce Springsteen), “In The Air Of Tonight” (Phil Collins) and “La Vie En Rose” (Edith Piaf).

She returned in 2021 with the acclaimed Home Video. The critical reception was repeated with Forever Is a Feeling, the singer's first album released by a major label, Geffen Records.
