Fugazi he is one of the most respected icons of North American underground rock, becoming a reference for his unshakable commitment to independent ethics. Maintaining complete autonomy, the band released all of its work through Dischord Records, a record label founded by vocalist and guitarist Ian MacKaye himself.

In addition to their experimental post-hardcore, the group became legendary for their anti-commercial stance: for years, they kept ticket prices for their shows set at five dollars and album prices at ten dollars, prioritizing fans' access to music.

Formed in 1987, the quartet brought the weight of the Washington, D. C. Scene, composed of Ian MacKaye (vocals and guitar), Guy Picciotto (vocals and guitar), Brendan Canty (drums) and Joe Lally (bass). Before Fugazi, MacKaye was already a central figure in the genre, having been part of seminal bands such as Teen Idles, Minor Threat and Embrace.

Within his discography, albums such as Repeater (1990 premiere), Red Medicine (1995) and The Argument (2001) stand out as the pillars of the group's sound: rock that manages to be, simultaneously, aggressive, political and sophisticated.
